Minsk, 6 April. Two major avenues in Minsk will be closed to traffic on the afternoon of April 8, when the presidential swearing-in ceremony for Aleksandr Lukashenko is to be held.
Independence Avenue (formerly Francisak Skaryna Avenue) from Lenin Street to Yanka Kupala Street will be off-limits to traffic between 2 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., said the Minsk city road police's Propaganda Department.
A stretch of Pobeditelei Avenue (formerly Masherova Avenue) will be closed to traffic between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. It will open for an hour and then will be shut down again until 4:45 p.m.
The Minsk city road police have urged drivers to use other routes on April 8 to access the areas they usually get to from the avenues.
