Nomination groups of four opposition contenders granted registration ahead of by-election in Grodno

Minsk, 18 January. The election authorities in Grodno's district where a repeat election for the House of Representatives will take place on March 20 have granted registration to nomination groups of four opposition contenders.
In particular, the authorities registered a 50-member group of the Belarusian Popular Front (BPF)'s Sergei Antusevich, the BPF press office told BelaPAN.
In addition, registration was granted to nomination groups of former MPs Valery Frolov and Sergei Skrebets, and Yaroslav Romanchuk, deputy chairman of the United Civic Party.
The election authorities also registered a 439-member nomination group of the government-backed Sergei Maskevich, who heads Grodno State University.
More nominees may enter the election race after being nominated by political parties or staffs of large organization and companies.
