Repeat election for House of Representatives to be held in Grodno's district on March 20, official says

Minsk, 22 December. A repeat election for the House of Representatives of the National Assembly are scheduled to be held in the number 52 Tsentralny electoral district in Grodno on March 20 after none of the candidates managed to gain more than 50 percent of the vote in October's parliamentary elections, Nikolai Lozovik, secretary of the central election commission, told BelaPAN. The repeat election will decide who obtains the remaining vacant seat in the 110-member House. Mr. Lozovik said all candidates who ran in the district in October have the right to take part in the repeat election, except for those removed from the parliamentary race for violating election regularities. The candidate nomination stage will start on January 9 and lasts until February 8. The district election commission will register candidates within the following nine days. The election campaign will lasts till March 19. It will be financed out of funds saved by the central election commission during the previous elections, according to Mr. Lozovik.
